Leaders After Hours and the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes are proud to present a visual art and writing contest for students in grades 9-12.
Students will create art based around the culture and music of Russia, in the past and today. Students may gain inspiration from the keyword items and music listed below.
Alexander Nevsky, Prokofiev, Neva battle of 1240, 13th century, Mongol hordes, Kiev, hero, USSR, Peter the Great, Serbo-Turkish war, nationalism ,subarctic, the mighty Five, St. Basil’s Cathedral, the bear, Russian Musical Society, Firebird, Sputnik, the color red, double-headed eagle, Tsar, Russian Revolution, the Red Square, Ivan the Terrible, hammer & sickle, Balalaika, Matryoshka dolls, Baba Yaga, St. Petersburg, Moscow, and the Winter Palace

Winners will be awarded tickets to the March 6th Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes concert being performed at the Clemens Center in Elmira, NY and their art and writing will be featured in the Clemens Center Lobby. Art and writing submissions will also be published in The Leader.
