My favorite holiday tradition is baking confections with my mother. Every year we pull out a huge sack of flour and set to work. We make buttery shortbread cookies, tangy ranch pretzels, Worcestershire sauce-drenched Chex mix, and so much more! My mother and I always have a bunch of fun and our stomachs have always been full of raw cookie dough when the last cookie sheet comes out of the oven!
Unfortunately, my mother was diagnosed with Celiac disease this summer, and now she can’t eat gluten. That rules out anything with wheat, barley, oats or rye. My family is looking for alternate ways to continue to make spirits bright, so we can hopefully enjoy our scrumptious holiday tradition.
